SADLY, the carol service at St Nicholas Church was cancelled on Sunday, December 19 due to the severe weather
The roads and pavements were covered with ice and the untreated village car park like a skating rink.
So, we were delighted to have seen the Abbotsbury Residents Corps (ARC) carol singers who toured the village for two nights earlier in the week.
Well-done ARC for braving the snow you cheered us all up..
Donations given on those evenings were divided between the church and Julia House hospice for children.
WE in the Chesil Bank villages have at last received very smart copies of the Parish Plan document.
The purpose of the document is to highlight what is important to the people of the parishes and how to prioritise the use of increasingly limited resources, which are made available.
This document has been three years in the making after a series of public meetings, and surveys.
Apparently the steering group, as reported by Tim Snape, received more than 100,000 survey responses from about a third of the people living in the Chesil bank area.
All this information has now been analysed and a follow up discussion session for the public will be held in the New Year.
THE Royal British Legion Abbotsbury and Portesham branch will be battling it out with the Women’s Section over a skittles match at the Swan Inn on Monday, January 10.
A light supper will be available at £3.50 ph.
