Community Awareness Day is being held between 9am and 5pm at the community hall off Canberra Road on Saturday 11th December.

Between 9am and 10.30am the mayor, councilor Paul Kimber will be attending the first of what is hoped to be an annual event.

Representatives of the many and varied groups and individuals who work within the community will be there, among these will be:- The Dog Warden, who will be available to microchip your cat or dog for a reduced fee of £15.

Sue Ryder, our local charity shop.

Rowlands Pharmacy, come along and have your blood pressure checked and see what other tests are available.

Walking group. A chance to stretch your legs once a week and make new friends.

First Dorset Credit Union. See what the saving and loans co-operative can offer you.

Breast cancer awareness.

The Thursday drop in group. .

Off The Cuff Writing group.

Slimming World. St John’s Ambulance.

The Fire Brigade.

Co-Op membership.

The police.

Skanska.

Dorchester amateur boxing club.

Weymouth and Portland housing.

Refreshments will be on sale throughout the day.

In the evening (8pm til late) there will be a free Disco for everyone who would like to attend. Food and refreshments will be available but feel free to take along your own alcohol.

  • On 17th December there will be a Christmas prize bingo session and then there will be a break until Friday 21st January when it will resume again on the bingo social night.

This years Christmas party for children up to the age of 11 years will be held on Saturday 18th December from 2pm until 5pm.

Tickets cost £3 which will include food, refreshments, entertainment and a visit and present from Father Christmas.

In the evening of the 18th there will also be a Christmas cabaret party, 8 til late.

Appearing in cabaret will be Karl El Mar, Brian Paul, Cindy Jardin and guests.

The ticket price is £5 which includes an evening buffet.

Light refreshments will be on sale, however if you want to take along your own alcohol then feel free to do so.

The main Christmas raffle will be drawn at this event.

The New Year’s party and disco will cost £5 which again includes an evening buffet.

If you want alcohol then please take your own.

This party is fancy dress optional, you don’t have to dress up but a prize will be given to the best costume.
