GLOBAL medical supplies company Medisave was recognised at a special ceremony at Kingston Maurward College to mark its recent successes.

The event was held after the Weymouth-based firm won the Train to Gain Employer of the Year title at the South West Skills Awards earlier this year.

The ceremony was also held to mark the honour and to recognise the achievements of staff who have gained qualifications.

Medisave beat rivals from Dorset, Gloucestershire, Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset to scoop the award.

HR director Nicola Wright said: “This is the first award Medisave has entered.

“We have been so busy growing the company that we have not stopped to seek recognition.

“The application process was extremely rigorous.

“It included a detailed application and a reporter and film crew visited to make a short film, followed by the announcement that we had been shortlisted.

“Medisave is delighted to have won the regional Employer of the Year category and to further receive recognition for its commitment to training its workforce.

“We are avidly looking forward to the National Awards Ceremony.”

Kingston Maurward training advisor Alison Moore nominated Medisave for the award.

The success came as the company – which has offices and warehouses in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and America – celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

A South West Skills Awards ceremony was held in Exeter but Kingston Maurward also wanted to mark the success.

Employees completed 11 qualifications in partnership with the college, including Team Leading NVQ level 2, Management NVQ level 3 and Advanced and Intermediate Excel spreadsheet training.

The ceremony was opened by college principal Clare Davison and managing director Alan Wrintmore and Mrs Wright gave recognition and thanks to the support of KMC and hard work of the staff.

Mrs Wright said: “We would like to thank the Medisave team for their continued hard work and commitment, training advisor Alison Moore for her continued support, along with the KMC business support team whom assisted us to identify relevant training subsidies.

“By actively encouraging staff to participate in training, morale has improved, which contributes to staff retention.”

Medisave, which is based on the Lynch Lane industrial estate, is now through to the national finals of the Employer of the Year award.

The company stocks about 9,000 lines and employ 40 staff.
