- STALWART pensioners turned up in their wet weather gear for a trip to Street to do some Christmas shopping on one of the wildest autumn days so far this year.
Cllr Paul Kimber, Mayor of Weymouth and Portland stood in the rain with John Pearce to see the coaches off. A free hot supper was provided by Karen and John of Alfs Fish and Chip shop, Fiveways, on the return of the intrepid travellers.
A big thank you is due to this generous pair, who arranged this special treat together, and to all those in the local community who, with the Pearces, have given generously to make this and other treats earlier in the year possible.

- I APOLOGISE if anyone found my recent piece about the Sue Ryder shop in Abbotsbury Rd at all misleading concerning where precisely it is located. It’s near the Chickerell Road end and adjacent to the Chinese Takeaway, in the old tile shop premises. I hope that clears up any confusion.

Grateful thanks also to all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes which helped the group raise just over £400 towards their funds. Thank you all.

The magnificent sum of £920.20 was raised for the charity Erb's Palsy. A huge thank you goes to Lisa Brown, and the committee of Wyke Regis Community Centre, for allowing the hall to be used as venue for this event. Organisers are also very grateful to all the businesses in Weymouth who contributed some lovely raffle prizes. They also greatly appreciate the support of everyone who came along on the night. Thank you everyone for helping raise such a fantastic sum.
