ALL were smiling at Wheelwright’s tea rooms on Friday, September 24
PUT A SMILE ON YOUR MUG was the catchy title to the nationwide appeal in aid of the Macmillan Nurses.
Sue and Nigel Melville opened the doors of their historic tearooms and gift shop in Rodden Row, for their part in the biggest ever coffee morning/tea party.
Residents from surrounding villages crowded into Wheelwrights for a bit of a chat and to support the work of the Macmillan cancer nurses.
Over £230 was raised through donations, a raffle and the auction of a beautiful plate decorated with a painting of St Nicholas Church crafted by and kindly donated by local artist Iris Trevett, It was lovely as well to see Jackie and Roger Loiselle, former residents, recently returned from a mature gap year – or should it be gap years as they have had two years exploring Europe in their camper van.
They had been put straight to work manning the raffle and serving refreshments.
Thank you Sue and Nigel for a really happy morning.
