WEYMOUTH bodybuilder James Goracy is in the running to win a national beach body competition.

The clinical technologist, who works at Dorset County Hospital, made it through to the finals of an online competition after sending in a swimwear shot.

James, 26, of the Park District, is one of 12 pin-ups shortlisted for leading holiday price comparison website icelolly.com’s national Beach Bodies Challenge.

He was selected by the icelolly.com judging panel and celebrity model Matt Peacock, after sending in a holiday snap from a recent trip to Bulgaria.

People from all over the United Kingdom submitted their photos to try and become the icelolly.com beach body of 2010.

Judges whittled it down to the favoured dozen then it was over to the public to decide which girl and guy should have the most votes to each win a holiday to Majorca.

Voting has now closed but contestants face a week’s wait until the winners are announced.

James said he worked hard in the medical physics department at Dorset County Hospital and would really appreciate the sun-filled break.

He said: “I’ll try anything and this competition looked like fun.

“I’m into classic bodybuilding.

“Last year I won the MET Rx supplement competition by entering before and after photos to show a transformation.”

In 2008 James made it through to the UKBFF British Championship finals after he won the classic category’s 1.75m height group at the UKBFF South West Classic Bodybuilding & Open Championships, held at Dor-chester Corn Exchange.

James said his favourite holiday activity was ‘lying down, hardly moving’ listening to his favourite songs and his top tip was to pack once then randomly take out half the clothes, so there is less to carry and the remaining items are ‘a surprise’.

He added: “Being shortlisted was a total surprise to me – I was over the moon.

“I’m a real fan of beach holidays and to be one of the 12 finalists with a chance to win a trip to Majorca is definitely a dream come true.”
