PRE-SCHOOL fundraisers are laying on a night of entertainment in Dorchester.

The Dorchester Comm-unity Nursery School has organised a charity fun evening at the Corn Exchange to raise funds for the refurbishment of its building.

The charity-run pre-school, which caters for children aged between two-and-a-half and five years old, is hoping to apply for grants for a revamp next summer.

But first it must raise funds of its own and it is hoping to kick-start the effort with a charity evening on Saturday, September 11, from 7.30pm.

The night will include a buffet and music from local bands Memories of the Future, Moontown and The Dinnerladies. There will also be a silent auction with a host of lots donated by businesses.

These include a make-up box worth £260 from Goulds, a meal for two at the Spice Centre, lunch at Café Jagos, tickets to the Plaza Cinema and beauty vouchers for Medusa.

Hayley Gould, honorary secretary for the Dorchester Community Nursery School, said the evening promises to be full of entertainment.

She praised all the businesses who had contributed as well as those helping out on the evening.

She said: “Everybody has given their services for free, which is brilliant, and we have a lady doing the catering for free.

“We have got a cold fork buffet, three very good local bands playing and the silent auction has got some brilliant prizes.”

The York Road pre-school celebrated its 40th anniversary last year with an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspection.

Tickets cost £12.50 and must be purchased before Friday, August 27. They are available from Goulds fashion store in South Street or by calling Mrs Gould on 07786963337.
