CLIVE Chamberlain’s fears ‘Union boss fears for the safety of citizens’, (Echo, August 21) have more to do with safeguarding the jobs of his Police Federation members which may be threatened in the present economic climate.
Police officers should be deployed on real crime prevention rather than the minor traffic duties he is suggesting, which would be a waste of their expensive time and training.
