THE headteacher of Wey Valley School and Sports College, Phil Thomas, described this year’s results as ‘fantastic’. He said: “We’re really delighted with them. We were identified as a school that is rapidly improving in our 2007 Ofsted report and these results prove that.”
Emily Flinn, 16, of Osmington, achieved the highest results in the year with seven A*s and two As.
She said: “I wasn’t expecting these results, they are a lot better than I expected.
“I think my parents will definitely be proud.”
Hannah Hart, 16, of Sutton Poyntz was delighted with her two A*s, four As and three Bs.
Her dad, Simon Hart, said: “She worked really hard and I’m really pleased she got what she deserved.”
George Scott, 16, of Preston, achieved one A*, four As and three Bs.
He said: “I was really happy about the A* in PE because my sister got an A* two years ago.
“I’m going to Thomas Hardye sixth form to do PE as well as maths, physics and English literature.”
Jessica Davey, 16, of Redlands, said: “I gained four A*s and five As and I am really pleased – it was hard work.”
Ella Fancy, 16, thanked her teachers at Wey Valley for helping her to achieve five As, two Bs and three Cs.
She said: “All the teachers really helped me, especially in maths. It is sad to be leaving because I don’t think I will get that support anywhere else.
“Thanks to Miss Howell, Miss Gibbs and Miss Patterson.”
