MONDAY’S use to be the day we recovered from the weekend, the day that normality resumed, the day we all had to knuckle down. Then “Can’t Sing Neither Can We” trampled over all those feelings.

It’s been a good 17 singing sessions for those of us that have persevered. The good times when we all remembered the words and performed our socks off at the Town Bridge and The Lawns, the bad times, well actually, I don’t think there have been any!!

Fear not, the choir will be resuming lessons in how to sing as a group, and the one thing that has become absolutely apparent, is it doesn’t matter what you think you sound like individually, in a choir, we somehow become good, confident and happy people!

So now is the time for all who fancied it, but thought it was too late.

When the sessions start up again we will be learning new songs to add to our repertoire, so new singers have the chance to join us as we all begin to learn words, rhythms, melodies and harmonies from scratch once again.

No need to feel at a disadvantage. It’s a great way to build up confidence and really get a sense of belonging. All ages and sexes welcome.

You have a month to get those big bravery boots out from the cupboard, put them on your feet and trot along to the Community Centre on Monday afternoons at 2pm from September 6.

We ask for a donation as the funding won't last forever, and we really need to build up funds for our singing tuition costs.

The evening choir sessions came to an end as not enough singers came forward to support it.

However, it did appear that more of our residents wished to sing along on a more relaxed and laid back social level. And so from Monday, September 20, 6.30pm-7.30pm Pat Lee will be hosting to Monday Night Sing Along, at £1 per session.

It’s singing in a relaxed environment, some of the old favourites and some new. Karaoke equipment and cd’s to sing along too and perhaps a guest performer if any of our local musicians feel they have an hour to spare us. Again, if this is you, please contact us at the Community Centre.

AND finally….

Monday evening also sees Pat’s Line Dancing sessions.

So if you want to let your feet do the talking, maybe dance away that Achy Breaky Heart, and rediscover your co-ordination then Monday night from 7.30pm-8.30pm is the place to be.

The price is £1.50 per session.

Who says nothing ever happens on a Monday.
