TUTUS, Hawaiian skirts and bunny ears were the order of the night as nearly 1,000 ladies hit the streets to raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
The fourth annual sponsored walk started at Weymouth Pavilion at midnight on Saturday and saw the women walk either to Overcombe Corner or 10km to Bowleaze Cove and back.
Despite the dark and drizzly weather conditions the walkers lit up Weymouth seafront with lime green T-shirts and light-up bunny ears.
The event is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Trust and organiser Sue Leighton said the charity is hoping to have raised over £80,000 this year.
Walkers of all ages took part in the event from 16 years old to one 94-year-old lady who completed the course in a wheelchair.
Leading the pack on the evening were walkers Jo Richards and Sarah Breaks, who both live in Sutton Poyntz.
Mrs Breaks, of Plaisters Lane, said that the evening was ‘really successful.’ She said: “It went really well. There was such a great atmosphere. All the ladies were up for a good, fun, sociable evening.
“The night was wet and drizzly but it was warm so it was good walking weather.
“We walked down the seafront lit by the fairy lights and it’s the most amazing sight to turn round when you’re walking and see a thousand flashing bunny ears behind you.
“Everyone goes to enjoy themselves.”
She added: “The volunteers are fantastic. They were up all night and on Sunday morning helping everyone out.
“Sometimes they get forgotten, but they defiantly deserve a big thank-you.”
