FOR the past three years my wife has taken part in the Weymouth BHF Bay Swim and has always looked forward to the experience.
It’s not just a swimming challenge, it’s a chance to mix with like-minded people from across the country. These swimmers are doing it for past, present and future loved ones.
We arrived early knowing parking at the Pavilion would be busy. What we didn’t expect was the parking charge of £6 for up to four hours.
Is Weymouth and Portland Borough Council having a laugh?
What added value do extortionate car parking charges bring to Weymouth? Nothing, the money is certainly not spent on public facilities like clean toilets or a visitor centre.
Maybe, just maybe, some stay vacation folk will try elsewhere next year.
Then who shall we blame for a downturn in trade? I know, the weather.
