SINCE when has Weymouth and Portland Borough Council become some sort of unstoppable machine intent on eliminating the trees and plants in the town?
The mature trees on several roundabouts have been hacked down.
They could easily have been re-located.
Several of the established trees along the Asda parameter are due for destruction under the proposed expansion.
The plants at the end of Weston Road have been chopped down and buried under rubble.
Apparently a ‘supporting wall’ is needed there.
It would appear that money to be made from the Olympics has made the council forget their supposed commitment to the environment – shame on them.
RUTH CONLON, Weston Road, Weymouth.
