AN AIR rescue was launched when a young girl started having breathing difficulties at a coastal beauty spot.

The youngster and her mother were airlifted from the beach at Durdle Door, Lulworth by South Western Ambulance Service.

She was transported to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester for treatment.

The drama occurred on Sunday at around 4.40pm and walker Przemyslaw Kosicki captured these images of the rescue.

Mr Kosicki, 32, from London, said: “I was down there having a walk when I saw the helicopter landing and a paramedic come from an ambulance at the top of the hill.

“They were down there for about 20 minutes and the girl and her mother were taken into the helicopter. It was a bit of an event at the time.”

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “A call was received at 4.42pm on Sunday to attend an infant with breathing difficulties on the beach at Lulworth. An ambulance from Dorchester Station attended along with the air ambulance, which conveyed the patient to Dorset County Hospital arriving at 5.30pm.”

A spokesman for Portland Coastguard said: “The South Western Ambulance took a girl and her mother from Durdle Door by air ambulance because the child wasn’t well.”
