A SCHOOLGIRL author has set her sights on becoming the next JK Rowling after penning a 408-page fantasy novel.

Anna Williams, 16, has achieved what many frustrated authors struggle to do in a lifetime by completing all 41 chapters of Legacy of the Last Elf in between her lessons and homework.

It is the first of a fantasy trilogy that the Thomas Hardye School student has planned.

She said: “I read mostly JK Rowling and really admire her.

“I read a lot of books but my favourite genre is fantasy.

“I’ve wanted to be an author since I was really young, I love writing and seeing how a story develops and grows.

“It has been hard to put it all together but I enjoy doing it.”

Legacy of the Last Elf tells the story of an evil wizard who murders all the elves in the land.

Anna’s main character Fabien, the hero elf, swears revenge on the wizard and on the way he learns about prophecy.

The first chapter of Anna’s book has been posted on the internet for other fantasy fans to critique.

So far she has had some positive reaction from readers across the globe – and one fan a little closer to home.

“My mum has read it and she loves it.

“I’m hoping to try and find a publisher because I would love to see it published.

“I know it’s hard to get things published but I’m going to keep on trying,” Anna said.

Anna, from Dorchester, is already on chapter 15 of the second book in the trilogy, The Book of Prophecy.

Her third and final book, The Abbot’s Abyss, will wrap up the series.

Inspired by JK Rowling, Anna has created a villain much like Voldemort in the Harry Potter series.

She said: “I think that Harry Potter is a brilliant hero.

“JK Rowling finished the series brilliantly.

“My villain, Lady Fayrema, is a bit like Voldemort and is determined to take control of the land.

“Fabien is the last elf left alive after the attack and is determined to avenge his race.”
