A TEMPORARY heliport has been established on Portland ahead of the 2012 Games.
Elite Helicopters and Compass Point Estates have joined forces to provide a heliport facility in support of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympic sailing events in the borough.
It is operating this week to coincide with the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta.
It will also be in action at all preliminary events taking place during 2011 from its site at Southwell Business Park.
The heliport, operated by Elite Helicopters, is open to other helicopter operators and private owners.
Elite Helicopters is also offering flights direct to Portland from London and an air taxi shuttle service from selected locations to the north of Weymouth to help people to beat the traffic caused by the Weymouth Transport Package.
Sightseeing tours and short pleasure flights taking in the Jurassic Coast are also available.
