MICHELLE and Steve Allmond are celebrating the birth of their first child Charlie Oliver.
Little Charlie was born at Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester last month, weighing 6lbs 14oz.
He is now settling well into his new home in Faversham, Southill.
New mum Michelle, 25, who worked as a community nurse in Bridport before going on maternity leave, said: “He’s fine and healthy and we came home the day after he was born.
“He lost some weight at first but is now back up to about his birth weight.
“He’s getting better at feeding and is slowly starting to eat more.
“Steve and I didn’t know we were having a boy, so we painted his room in neutral colours, but it was nice to have a surprise.
“It’s lovely being a mum –I’m really enjoying it.
“It’s hard work but I’m really enjoying every day and we’ve had so many visitors.”
Michelle said new dad Steve, 26, who works as an information technology officer for Dorset County Council is proving to be a ‘brilliant’ dad.
She added: “Charlie’s had a lot of toys and lots of photos taken by the family.
“The first couple of days back home he wasn’t sleeping too well but he’s now sleeping better.
“We would definitely like to have more in the future but we’re not thinking to much about that now.
“Steve’s a brilliant dad – he’s getting on very well and is very loving.
“I’m still quite tied but I’m feeling better every day.
“We both just really liked the name Charlie.
“It wasn’t a family name or anything but it was the only name we thought of that we both liked.”
