DRIVERS are continuing to face disruption in the peak holiday season due to work connected with the Weymouth Relief Road.
It follows a weekend when Littlemoor Road was closed to allow construction company Skanska to carry out drainage work.
Dorset County Council says this work went well and people are being thanked for their co-operation during the three-day closure.
However, temporary traffic lights are in force until tomorrow while some work is done on the road near Goulds Garden Centre.
No-one at Goulds was available for comment.
Businesses at Littlemoor Shopping Centre expressed fears last week that the road closure, which came just a week into the school holidays, could affect trade.
Ginny Marshallsay, a manager at Somerfield supermarket, estimates the store lost more than £20,000 while the road was closed for three days.
She said: “It’s usually one of our busiest times because all the holiday park visitors come here when they arrive for the weekend.
“It was dead here on Saturday, just dreadful.
“The road’s back open again now but the traffic is queuing because of the lights, it’s hell.”
Mrs Marshallsay said the store had been warned about the works but she wondered why it wasn’t done during the week.
