A FAMILY festival came together ‘at the last minute’ thanks to community support and attracted 200 revellers and performers.
Organiser Sally Meadows declared the inaugural Global Heart Gathering a success after they overcame a ‘crisis’ in the eleventh hour to secure marquees and a toilet block.
The festival was held at Rick Ground, Rodden Farm, courtesy of Paul Swaffield of the Great Dorset Maize Maze.
Mum-of-four Sally, of Weston, Portland decided to hold the spiritual festival to raise money for the poor of India after meeting the founder of the POOR charity, which helps to provide orphanages, schools and medical centres for people living in tribal villages around West Bengal.
The four-day event near Weymouth featured musicians, children’s workshops, yoga, and food stalls.
Sally, 45, said: “There have been 200 throughout the whole event – that’s including people who came to perform.
“My partner Vince and I couldn’t have done this without the support of a whole community of people helping.
“I particularly want to thank the farm owner Paul and Chris Hallett of Dorset Community Action.”
