TWO former teenage mums have spoken out, claiming Outlooks Children's Centre does a ‘fantastic’ service for Portland.
Mum-of-four Kerry Marshall, 21, of Underhill, was surprised by the findings of the latest Ofsted report and said staff at the centre had helped her to obtain grants and entertain her children, five-month-old Noah, Emmy aged two, Tristan aged three and five-year-old Elise.
She said: “I get letters from them all the time and I was going to take my children down there this summer holiday.
“They’ve always done a lot down there, there’s always something for kids to do.
“They got me grants and they’ve got a crèche there you can use.
“They can get you in touch with Connexions and work.
“I 100 per cent defend them.”
Mum Becky Bird, 20, of Tophill, said: “I’m definitely surprised. When I first had my son Harley, they were fantastic. When I got my first home they gave me a grant to get a washing machine.
“I can’t believe Outlooks has had such a bad report.
“Any of my friends who went there would say it was fantastic, I used to go every Wednesday and they provided lunch and there was lots to do.”
