I REFER to the fairy lights and lasers issue in Weymouth.

The issue should not have become a past vs present one. Lighting is my interest, the offer of laser lights would be a welcome one.

In addition to our suitably upgraded fairy lights, laser columns installed on the pier, and near the Sea Life Park, with beams crossing out to sea would add an extra dimension to the bay.

However, this scheme is more about funding, running costs and offloading liabilities.

The visual conflict between the ‘shard’ columns and Victorian lamp posts has been resolved by the Victorian posts, each with the Weymouth Coat of Arms shield cast into its lower access panel, being removed.

A case of conservation when it suits you.

Fairy lighting is not old, it is enduring, regularly re-invented and cheerful. Has business funding been looked at yet? It all seems very cut and dried.
