I REFER to the letter in the Echo of July 14 from a resident of the Park District, Genny Burchill, who says they have tirelessly been working for the last 14 years to bring the Park District up to a standard where people would want to live.
My response is the old adage: if you are not part of the solution then you’re part of the problem, and you have obviously failed, and so have your councillors, which I trust you have.
Those councillors should demand that the environmental health are on the scene every time there is fly- tipping of rubbish sacks on the streets the night before the round, and warning notices should be sent to the landlords and then summonses.
The police should patrol on foot every night if there is any hint of drug taking and discarded syringes because believe it or not the Park District is where most people stay on holiday in bed and breakfast and it should be safe for these people, let alone residents.
If all else fails then recycling bins should be introduced immediately, thus solving the problem altogether.
Mrs Burchill’s mind-set is on the wrong end of the problem and let’s hope it doesn’t take another 14 years to implement these solutions.
