HUNDREDS of children will be attempting a unique challenge on the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic waters to celebrate the two year countdown to the home Games.
More than 300 young sailors will take to the waters of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy on Sunday to take part in a ‘Tacking on a Whistle Challenge’.
Members of the public are invited to come and watch the spectacle, which will begin at 2pm as part of an Open Weekend for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.
The official two-year countdown to the opening ceremony of the 2012 events is taking place this Tuesday.
The tacking challenge, which has never been attempted before, will involve youngsters attempting to turn their vessels instantly upon hearing a whistle.
