TWO sporting causes in Dorchester are hoping for a boost from a fundraising fun day at a town pub.
The Victoria Hotel in Maud Road is holding a day of entertainment tomorrow to raise funds for the Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club’s ‘Build Fund’ and Dorchester teenager Amber Guy-Kemp’s Football academy fund.
Town crier Alistair Chisholm will be placed in stocks, and there will also be a fun run, stalls and games including face painting and a coconut shy.
There will also be a big prize raffle with an exciting array of prizes on offer including Dorchester Town FC season tickets, Yeovil FC tickets, a signed Tony Adams autobiography, golfing sessions, a day pass to the Great Dorset Steam Fair and afternoon tea at the Summer Lodge in Evershot.
Landlord and landlady Alan and Renee Freeborn said they were delighted to host the event, which starts with the fun run at 11am.
Alan said: “We have supported a lot of charity events over the years and it’s good to be involved in another one.”
Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club has won a long-fought battle for a new site in the town but now needs to raise funds.
Roxanne Symes from the club will be doing a parachute jump to raise money for the club as well as Help for Heroes.
Football talent Amber spent last season at Chelsea Ladies Football Club’s academy and is hoping to raise £3,500 so she can go back for another year.
