A SCHOOLBOY left heartbroken when his money was stolen has been cheered up by the generosity of a toy shop.

Isaac Rogers, 12, was left upset when he dropped the money he had earned cleaning cars and a stranger picked it up and ran off with it.

And Isaac suffered a double blow when another stranger drove over his skateboard.

But now Isaac has a smile on his face again after Howleys Toymaster gave him a new skateboard and offers flooded in from new customers asking him to wash their cars.

Isaac said he was like a child in a sweet shop when he was invited to the shop in Frederick Place, Weymouth, to choose his new board.

He said: “I’m very pleased and excited.

“The man at the shop said he used to be a skater and his skateboard got run over by a bus.

“He said ‘pick any board’ and it was like going into a sweetshop as they’ve got loads. I want to say thank you.

“He’s cheered me up after what happened.”

Isaac – who goes to the Sir John Colfox School in Bridport – was locking his bike up on Weymouth seafront when his £10 note fell out of his pocket and a stranger picked it up.

He looked up and said thank you to the man for picking it up but the stranger looked at him and ran off.

Isaac’s beloved skateboard was left damaged after someone drove over it in the street.

Pete Healey, manager at Howleys, said everyone at the store saw Isaac’s story in the Dorset Echo and decided they wanted to help.

He said: “Our hearts went out to him and we wanted to offer him a replacement board.

“We like the fact that he’s gone out to earn his own money and we wanted to put a nice ending to what’s happened.”

Isaac’s mum Joanna Rogers, of Devon Road, Weymouth, has had her faith in human nature restored by the toy shop managers and others who have spoken to her since the theft.

Miss Rogers said she wanted to say thank you to Howleys and all the people who have offered to have their cars washed by Isaac.

She said: “It’s an absolutely lovely gesture.

“I’m very grateful that there are some people who are so thoughtful and so nice and I’m absolutely chuffed.

“It’s made his day.”
