I HAD my knuckles rapped by Arthur since there had been no mention of the wonderful Flower Festival held in St Martin’s Church at the beginning of July.
With the theme of Water of Life the floral arrangements were truly inspirational.
Thanks from our community and the many visitors to all who worked to hard to make this such a success.
THE Martinstown Women’s Institute has held their first meeting at the new time and date.
It is now the second Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm and it will certainly prove a blessing for both speaker and members, especially during darker evenings.
A break during August will see the next meeting on September 4 when the WI will have an Autumn Sale from 2pm, on the village green.
Naturally cakes and produce will be to the fore but also plants and a book stall too.
A GREAT pity that more people did not take up the invitation to join members for a marvellous illustrated talk given by Chris Shaw of her visit to Cuba.
She did indeed live up to all our expectations with Salsa and Castro, a talk that gave a potted history of a country whose wealth for just a few was founded by sugar cane and slave labour.
THERE are still places for girls to join the Martinstown Brownies.
Just contact Brown Owl on 01305 265574.
