Weymouth drivers are set for more misery as the Weymouth Transport package continues.
Since the start of the year-long roadworks in June, the Westham and Harbour roundabouts in Weymouth have been dug up in the first stages of their transformation into a system of ‘intelligent’ traffic lights.
Five roundabouts through the town will be changed to traffic lights in the £16million scheme, as Weymouth and Portland gear up for the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
Work will continue on Boot Hill.
Today, Southern Gas Network will start work to replace a gas main on Boot Hill, this will mean drivers will not be able to turn right into Wyke Road from Boot Hill.
But motorists will still be able to turn onto the hill from Wyke Road.
Once the gas company have finished their work, the Weymouth Transport Package workers, Hanson and the Dorset Works Organisation, will move in, meaning that the two-way junction will not be open again until September.
