TABLETOP sale held at The Fernhill Day Centre for The Lawns is enjoyed by residents, staff and friends.
Stalls, refreshments and a raffle were featured at this annual event that raised some £300 for the Lawns Amenity Fund, which provides trips and visits, entertainment and treats that are much enjoyed by residents.
This event was concluded with a visit by the Portland Singers who provided a popular programme of old favourites.
TRAVELLERS who set up their unauthorised camp at Mercery Road caused much comment and concern.
The Council’s Environmental Health Officer attended the site in response to issues of noise, dogs, and children running around the local area.
It is the responsibility of the land owners (in this case, New Look Holdings) to remove unauthorised campers, but this can involve court action.
The Police also attended the site and spoke to the travellers.
On such occasions, the site needs to be monitored carefully, but the police should be contacted on 222222 if any crimes are committed.
