SPIRIT of Chickerell are busy preparing for the Chickerell Village Annual Produce Show on Saturday August 7.
The doors will open at the Willowbed Hall at 2pm until 5pm.
If you wish to take part the schedules and entry forms are available from Chickerell Post Office and Chickerell Library. The classes include cut flowers, vegetables and fruit, cookery, handicraft, photography and floral arrangements.
All classes have an entry fee of 20p per exhibit, which is payable prior to staging.
Juniors haven’t been forgotten either, they can choose between five classes: a miniature garden in a standard seed tray, an animal made from vegetables, a scary monster you have made, a drawing or painting and finally three cup cakes you have made.
Good luck to everyone taking part!
SINCE becoming the Mayor of Chickerell on May 18, Councillor Jean Dunseith has been proud to represent Chickerell at both official and unofficial events.
Councillor Dunseith said: “The official events have included the Mayor makings in Dorchester and Weymouth, Civic Services in Poole, Wareham, Bridport and Yeovil and a service in Sherborne Abbey which was particularly touching as the Elizabeth Cross was awarded to 11 Service families. I have also attended the Weymouth Remembrance Parade and the Ceremony of the Keys on Portland.
“The unofficial events have all been local events where I have been very impressed with the army of volunteers who organise events in Chickerell and, of course, their dedicated helpers! I have attended the Chickerell School Fete where the displays given by the young people were first class and the School Hill display of Yesteryear.
“I popped in on the coffee morning at the Charlestown Victory Hall and also attended their Annual General Meeting where the very dedicated band of volunteers are busy trying to raise money towards the ongoing upkeep of the hall.
“I attended the Scouts Annual General Meeting and was disappointed to be told that there were no scouts in Chickerell so I invited them to the Spirit of Chickerell Fun Day; you may have seen them there with their equipment?
“The Spirit of Chickerell day was both fun and interesting and, as usual, very well organised, I hope you all attended and had a good day out with your families.
“It’s been a busy few months but very rewarding and it’s lovely to see that Chickerell has such a strong sense of community”
