I WOULD like to ask Councillor Mollie Rennie and the few residents of Castle Park who have complained about the noise from the marquee at Dorchester Town Football Club the following: Did they complain when Tesco’s was built and do they now shop there?
Do they complain when young people are hanging round the streets causing problems because they are bored?
Did they purchase their properties knowing there was a Football club with social facilities in Weymouth Avenue (the old ground also had these facilities)?
There is also a very busy bypass and roundabout adjacent to Castle Park with heavy lorries and emergency vehicle sirens 24/7. Do they complain about this?
Is Coun Rennie aware of just how many charities benefit from this facility, including Help for Heroes, which I know is close to her heart? (Quiz night, July 23 for Help for Heroes).
This venue should be encouraged as a valuable asset to the community and also bringing visitors into the town of Dorchester with so many interesting places and mostly friendly people.
OK, so we live in Weymouth (near to the football club and speedway) but we do support DTFC and the social activities there.
How about live and let live? In these gloomy times have a bit of fun and think positively.
Why don’t you come across the road and enjoy some of the events? You don’t know what you are missing and you might just be helping someone else.
