A PENSIONER suffered serious injuries after her car left a Dorset road and ended up in a field.
The 80-year-old woman was taken to Dorset County Hospital with multiple fractures following the crash close to Pound Farm, near Dorchester, on the C12 Old Sherborne Road.
A Dorset Police spokesman said at 3.55pm on Saturday a grey Toyota vehicle, being driven by a woman from Dorchester, ‘left the road and landed in a field.’ The road remained closed while emergency service personnel treated the woman driver and investigated the scene.
Paramedics in a rapid response vehicle from Dorchester were first on the scene and called for an ambulance, the air ambulance and the fire brigade to cut the woman from the wreckage.
The woman was transported to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance, where police said her injuries were ‘serious but not life-threatening.’ The Old Sherborne Road has claimed eight lives in under four years on its seven-mile length from Dorchester to Middlemarsh.
Witnesses can contact investigating officer PC Stuart Smith on 01305 222222.
