THREE teenagers diced with death by leaping from Ferrybridge into Portland Harbour.

The youths, all aged 16, were warned by coastguards of the dangers after a passer-by raised the alarm with police on Saturday. They told the teens that they could not be sure what was under the water, how high the tide was and that the sea can travel quickly under the bridge.

Watch manager Ros Evans said: “We went there to speak to the lads and point out what could go wrong.

“They hadn’t thought of the horrible things that can happen in these situations.”

Wyke Regis coastguard officers, who were on a routine patrol in the area, gave the safety advice.
