n I DECIDED to find out more about my home town of Weymouth by going back in time at the Timewalk.
I was pleased to meet another cat, Miss Paws the brewery cat, and her feline ancestors, and follow in their footsteps to experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of six hundred years of Weymouth and Portland’s past.
It started when the hands of the Timewalk’s clock whirled backwards, taking me to the 14th century when the Black Death swept through the town.
A series of life-size scenes recreate the history of the area including sailmakers preparing for the arrival of the Spanish Armada, smugglers on the lookout for the Revenue men, and even members of high society enjoying the splendour of a Georgian ballroom.
