Rock legends Status Quo will donate two signed guitars to the Tank Museum in Bovington when they visit the Dorset attraction tomorrow.
Rockers Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi will be at the museum to film a music video for a new version of their single, In the Army Now, that will be released in September with profits going to the British Forces Foundation and Help for Heroes.
The guitars will be auctioned by the museum to raise funds for a new exhibition, Battlegroup Afghanistan, which, using first-hand accounts from serving soldiers, will tell the story of the Royal Armoured Corps in Afghanistan alongside the vehicles and equipment in use on operations today. Francis Rossi said: “This exhibition is essential to help the public better understand the amazing work that the British Army perform and the living conditions they endure on a daily basis.
“Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to be involved in a project for Help for Heroes, so when the Tank Museum asked us to donate a couple of guitars, we were more than happy to help.
“Battlegroup Afghanistan must go ahead so we can let our soldiers tell their story. ”
All money raised by from the auction of the signed Fenders will go towards the Battlegroup Afghanistan appeal.
The new exhibition will launch in spring 2011.
