STEP back in time during the Spirit of the Sea maritime festival to learn more about Weymouth’s past.
History enthusiasts can discover all there is to know about a range of historical events including famous shipwrecks, the English Civil War, the plague and the Spanish Armada at the Weymouth Through Time event.
Residents and visitors are invited to go along to the displays at the Old Town Hall and enjoy the Battle of Weymouth 1645 Tour.
The tour will help unravel the history behind the long forgotten battlefield around Weymouth and visit the scene of bloodthirsty fighting, naval beach assaults, battles and forts.
The family play ‘A Rat’s Tale’ will also be showing at the Old Town Hall today at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and Thursday and Friday at 7.30pm.
Organiser Debby Rose said: “I think most people have found the events very interesting.
“People have been able to come along and chat about what they remember because we have some of the more modern history on display as well, such as the old high street.” Contact the Weymouth TIC for more information about A Rat’s Tale performance on 01305 785747.
