A CLIMBER was airlifted to hospital with a dislocated knee after falling from some cliffs on the Dorset coast.
The man, in his 30s, was rescued from Dancing Ledge, near Langton Matravers.
The Portland Coastguard helicopter was scrambled to the scene on Saturday morning.
Also in attendance were the St Albans Coastguard Rescue team and Dorset Police.
Ross Evans, watch manager at the Portland Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, said: “Dancing Ledge is a well known climbing area.
“We believe the casualty was a male in his 30s who had twisted his knee and fallen.”
The crew of the rescue helicopter prepared the man for evacuation with the assistance of the coastguard rescue officers.
He was flown to Dorchester, where he was met by the Wyke Coastguard Rescue team and South Western Ambulance and was transferred to Dorset County Hospital.
