WEYMOUTH and Portland Borough Council will hold the Park District Clean Streets focus groups with a view to expanding them throughout the borough if successful.
Residents can highlight any concerns about litter or fly-tipping at the groups.
The council has recognised the Park District does not have room for wheelie bins and the waste management teams state they ‘are eager to work with residents in order to find a solution’ on the problem with seagulls.
Councillor Brendan Webster, spokesman for Environment and Sustainability, said: “It is a priority for the council to ensure that the borough’s streets are clean and residents are satisfied.
“Our waste and recycling teams work hard to provide an excellent service but unfortunately matters beyond our control can cause problems such as seagulls tearing refuse bags in areas where wheeled bins cannot be issued.
“The council is already looking at a number of ways to address clean streets issues for the whole borough including the Park District and other areas where wheeled bins are not practical.
“It would be fantastic to engage with residents to discuss these ideas and hear residents’ suggestions.”
Residents who wish to be part of the Park District Clean Streets focus group should contact Amy Maslin on 01305 838302.
No date has yet been set for a focus group meeting.
