WORLD CUP fever is building as the final looms tomorrow.
While England’s campaign ended in dismal failure, Spanish and Dutch supporters have cause to celebrate.
Neither side has ever won the World Cup and supporters on both sides are determined their team will win.
Spaniard Santiago Rodriguez, a barman at the Boho bar in St Thomas Street, Weymouth, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens in the final.
“Both teams have a lot to prove, neither has ever won the World Cup so I’m looking forward to seeing what will come out of this.
He added: “My prediction is that Spain will win. I hope it will be a good game with lots of goals. I think it will be three-two to Spain, we’ll let the Netherlands score a few of them.
“Everyone said we would lose throughout the competition and we didn’t and people are saying we will lose to the Netherlands but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
“I think it will be a very interesting match with lots to prove.”
Mr Rodriguez said that Boho would be showing the match and he hoped lots of Spanish supporters would come along.
Spain has also received the backing of Weymouth-born octopus Paul whose predictions have been 100 per cent accurate throughout the tournament.
But Dutch fans say they aren’t bothered by the octopus’s predictions and they will be the ones celebrating on Sunday night.
Kevin Lea, 50, lived in Holland for 15 years and is married to Dutchwoman Odile Lea-Stroebel.
Mr Lea, who owns the Whirl and Twirl Laundrette on Lennox Street, said they would be celebrating with a special Dutch meal and watching the game at home.
He said: “Holland are going to win it definitely.
“They came from behind and beat Brazil and they have destroyed the competition.”
Mr Lea said he wasn’t worried by the predictions that Spain would win as other famous animals including a budgie, swans and a dog had all backed Holland.
He said: “The final score will be two-nil to Holland.
“We had been hoping for a Germany versus Holland final as there’s a big rivalry there. If it had been I would have gone over there. They go mad there, whole streets are covered in orange.”
