THEY recorded a hit song in a back garden shed in New Milton and it went on to storm the charts in Greece this summer.
But now the pair of unknown songwriters cannot find the female singer who provided the vocals on the track and the rest of their album, and without her they are sunk.
Kevin Charge from New Milton, and Alan Charnley formerly of Bournemouth, are desperate to locate local singer Dee Angelis whose stage name is Angel Deelite.
They originally found Dee busking near Bournemouth Pier in 2004 and were so impressed with her voice that they paid her £500 to sing the track Big Romance and do the lead vocals on their album.
"Nothing happened with the song for ages," said Kevin, speaking from his Antler Drive home, "until we approached Gotham Records who loved it and agreed to promote it.
"With their help we hit the charts in Greece topping the likes of Coldplay, James Blunt and Oasis. We spent 14 weeks in the charts and climbed as high as number two.
"But by this time we had lost Dee's telephone number."
The pair had to stall when the record company asked them and Angel to appear and promote the song in Greece and at the Popkomm Festival in Germany.
The record company has given them until January to find her otherwise it says it won't be able to promote the pair's album Angel Dust.
Alan, who now lives in Manchester, said: "I know it sounds crazy that we've lost her but a lot of time had passed between the recording session and the track coming out.
"We only had a mobile contact and we know that she was living in Poole. We have no photos of her but she is around 30, with long black hair and pretty.
"It's very important that we trace her otherwise we and her may miss our golden chance."
