SKIPPER Scott Joyce delivered a four-goal salvo - three of them from the penalty spot - as Poppies eased past St Peter's into the third round of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
But there were few jubilant celebrations for the former Christchurch striker in the wake of the tragic death of his former team-mate Steve Bernard, who died in a car accident last week.
"A lot of the players knew Steve, and some were feeling low before the game," said Poppies manager Peter Moore.
"Both his father and brother were here to organise a minute's silence."
The game itself was dominated by penalty decisions, both given and not given, with Moore claiming: "We should have had six."
The first was awarded after half an hour when Mark Dancer was pushed in the back by the Jersey side's goalkeeper.
Joyce, who scored a hat-trick in the FA Vase win over Odd Down last weekend, rolled in the spot-kick sending the 'keeper the wrong way.
On the hour mark, Poppies doubled their lead with the game's second penalty after Ross Edwards was tripped from behind as he burst through on goal.
Same kicker, same way, same result.
The 24-year-old duly completed his hat-trick from open-play soon afterwards. Some quick thinking gave him time and space to swivel and bury his left-footed strike in the bottom corner.
The goal fest wasn't quite over as Joyce himself was brought down in the area, after some good link-up play with ex-Cherries youth teamer Mickey Hubbard, who enjoyed a solid afternoon.
Although Joyce was ready to hand the penalty-taking duties over to his strike-partner Dancer, Moore told him to take his third of the afternoon to make it 4-0.
The manager was full of praise for Dancer, however, saying: "He's been out injured for a long time but was on form today."
He added: "The team didn't play particularly well but in cup games results are more important.
"If they win one or two games, before you know it you're in the semi-final and then it's all about playing on the day."
Bournemouth Poppies: Shergold, Briscoe (Toy, 63), L Dibba, Fletcher, Baker, Hubbard, McCabe, Dancer, Joyce, Edwards (Merritt, 73), C Dibba (Constable, 60). Unused subs: Crow, Wood.
