TOMMY Killick admitted he felt "humiliated" after his Poole Town team were humbled 1-0 at Alresford Town in the second round of the Hampshire Senior Cup.

Killick's pre-match words of treating the cup competitions preciously apparently fell on deaf ears as the Wessex Two side struck the winner midway through the first half with Dolphins unable to respond despite a host of chances.

Leigh Phillips, Richard Glenister and Stuart Brown all had opportunities to get Killick's side back in the game, but were unable to make them count.

Killick said: "I felt humiliated by it all. I couldn't say anything to the players afterwards because if I had, it wouldn't have been constructive - it would have just been abuse and that doesn't achieve anything.

"We were woeful. We started sloppily and just never got going after that.

"We didn't lack for physical effort, we just weren't intelligent or good enough.

"The ball spent most of the time in the air, we never got it down to play and it suited them perfectly to play the game like that. We should have had enough about us to deal with it."

Poole Town: Spillane, White, Whitley, Spalding, Funnell, Sturgess (Crook, 52), Richardson, Woolfenden, Harris, Phillips, Brown (Glennister, 58). Unused subs: Jackson, Tottingham.

Ringwood Town also crashed out at the same hurdle as they suffered a 1-0 loss at AFC Totton.
