ALRIGHT, I know it's very easy to bash this gargantuan pile of soft focus and frozen sailors, but come on - 11 Oscars?

No, it's not a brilliant film. Kate Winslett and Leonardo Di Caprio are okay, but Billy Zane is atrocious. It's too long, Celine's song is utterly horrible, the script is risible and the boat looks really, really small during the whole "king of the world" carry-on.

But admittedly, the scale of the film is enormous and must earn respect for that. The effects during the sinking are excellent also, and there are some nice moments scattered throughout.

It's just the thick clumps of saccharine that really stick in the throat.
