BOURNEMOUTH & Poole College is to undergo a £41 million revamp taking up to five years.

Construction work will involve new build and refurbishment at both the Lansdowne, Bournemouth and North Road, Poole sites.

London project management company Gardiner & Theobald has been appointed to oversee the project.

College principal Rowland Foote said: "This is a significant project, enabling us to serve the community - in particular local employers and employees - through world class, high quality education and training.

"We currently have an assorted range of accommodation, some of which is no longer fit for purpose, part of it listed buildings, and therefore a multi-million pound investment is now required to address this."

Gardiner & Theobald impressed The College with its track record in the education sector including Queen Mary University, London; Cambridge University William Gates Building & Nanoscience Centre and the University of Oxford Ashmolean Museum.

Gardiner & Theobald partner Jonathan Deans said: "We are able to draw on a breadth and depth of corporate experience to help Bournemouth & Poole College achieve its goals.

"We are in a unique position to manage successfully the planning and delivery of this accommodation strategy from feasibility studies and business case development through to full design and management of construction.

"It is exciting to be part of this impressive building project and we look forward to helping them reach their vision."
