A NURSING home's oldest resident enjoyed a party with friends and family as she turned 102.
Dorothy Caddy was the centre of attention as she received presents and cake from well-wishers and residents at the Greenbushes Nursing Home in Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester.
Mrs Caddy said: "I feel like I'm still 21 and have been really looking forward to my day."
Greenbushes home manager Liz Moore said: "Despite her age Dorothy is still very alert.
"She's very popular with the staff and the rest of the residents.
"She has a bubbly character and although she's two years older she hasn't really changed since she turned 100.
Mrs Caddy came to the home in 2000 after she left hospital but was too frail to look after herself.
Daughter Edna Staton, 77, from Chandlers Ford in Hampshire, said: "She is still very bright and has no hesitation in having a grumble at me if something isn't right.
"We try to get down to see her every week and a few other family members also came down to wish her happy birthday."
Mrs Caddy was born and lived in Somerset before moving to Weymouth. She was married to husband William and spent much of her working life as a farmhand.
She has three children, Brian, Edna and Christine, who died a few years ago.
She also has 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
