WIMBORNE walked off with bragging rights from a fiery local derby with Oakmeadians as they ripped up the form book to earn a 23-15 victory at Meyrick Park.
Both sides saw players sin-binned for high tackles in a thunderous first half, although controversy reigned as Oaks were awarded a penalty try for Wimborne's infringement, but the visitors were not rewarded in the same fashion when the situation was reversed minutes later.
Fortunately, the decision did not prove critical and instead galvanised the Leigh Park side to a first victory in five matches in South West Two East.
Amazingly, the visitors' injury woes continued and they played most of the second half with just 14 players after they had used up all their replacements.
Wimborne skipper Dave Oddie, who grabbed his side's third try, said: "It was a great team effort. We worked hard for each other with people playing out of position,
"We started really well, but relaxed and let them back into it. But we never gave in through to the end."
Wimborne tore into the hosts in the first 20 minutes. Winger Morne Denysshen finished in the corner to put them 5-0 ahead and Alex King eluded several tackles to double the lead.
Oddie then took a clean catch in the line-out and bundled over to put his side firmly in the driving seat, but it merely served as a platform for an Oaks revival.
Quick ball from a ruck allowed Ned Tawake to steal in to reduce arrears and after Matt Wedge added a penalty, the home side were awarded their penalty try for a high tackle by Dave O'Bryan on Wedge as he went for the line.
O'Bryan was yellow-carded and Daryl Puzas slotted over the conversion to level things at 15-15.
But Wimborne were left bemused when James Reed's high tackle on Denysshen also earned him a place in the sin-bin, but no try for the away side.
Despite being down to 14 in the second period, though, a 35-metre James Mikolajewski penalty restored Wimborne's lead, and some stout defence held up another Oaks' fight back.
And Owen Hymers sealed Wimborne's welcome victory, picking up from a scrum won against the head and dancing through the Oaks back row to touch down.
