PARENTS from Poole told of their shock at finding their 28-year-old son with blood on his head on their doorstep.
JP Morgan employee Neil Compton was at the Little Britain gig at Bournemouth International Centre on Thursday night.
He went to a friend's house afterwards for a few drinks then got on his bike in the early hours to go back home to Verity Crescent, Canford Heath.
But when his parents, Nigel and Sandra Compton, heard the doorbell ring they went down and found their son on the doorstep in a distressed state.
Their son claimed about three or four people had jumped on him. His parents called the police straightaway at 3.44am.
Mrs Compton said: "The whole front of his head had come forward and their were cuts and grazes on the side. He's lost skin on the top and his eye is black."
His father said: "He was very confused. He doesn't really remember anything. He doesn't remember where it happened."
Neil was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Poole Hospital for a brain scan yesterday.
He was not found to have any major head injuries and his parents said he was sitting up and chatting by about 11am. A Poole hospital spokesperson said yesterday he was in a "stable condition".
He was due to go home later on in the day and Mr Compton said Neil would have at least a few days off work.
Police cordoned off the area near to the Compton's house in Verity Crescent on Friday morning for forensic tests. They would like hear from anyone who knows anything about the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Holloway, from Poole CID, said: "I'm appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything or who has information as to how this man came to have these serious head injuries."
Anyone with information should call Poole CID on 01202 222222 or the anonymous crime stoppers line on 0800 555 111.
