AN elderly woman who was seriously injured while at a wedding in one of Bournemouth's top hotels has died.
Benita Brown, 82, from Poole, was injured following an incident at the Royal Bath Hotel on August 27.
Police were called to the four-star hotel after Mrs Brown was struck by a life-size ornamental 19th century carriage, which was on display in the hotel.
Mrs Brown was taken to hospital and was released shortly after.
But she was later readmitted and died at Poole Hospital on Thursday, October 6.
The pensioner had been a guest at the wedding in the hotel and was an old friend of the bridal family.
A post mortem examination will be carried out on Monday to establish the cause of death and whether she died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the incident.
A full inquest into Mrs Brown's death will be held at a later date.
Duncan Fisher, general manager of the Royal Bath Hotel, said: "We were very sorry to learn that she has passed away.
"We are fully co-operating with the police and we will do everything we can to assist with their investigation."
Two local men aged in their 20s have been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear before Bournemouth magistrates on Monday.
