A MAJOR North Dorset employer is inviting all the neighbours in to have their say on its future.

Brewers Hall & Woodhouse based in Blandford St Mary - but also clearly visible from Blandford on the opposite bank of the Stour - is proposing to drop some of its old structures.

The idea is to build a state-of-the art new brewery and use some of the freed-up land for a mix of retail, community facilities and housing.

Residents are invited to a series of open days at the Brewery Visitor Centre to look at the various options.

Managing Director David Woodhouse said: "Following our exit from soft drinks we now have the opportunity to establish a new brewery incorporating all the latest technology for the next 100 years.

"The brewery site and its future use needs to be carefully thought through so we are keen to understand the views of the local community before we submit any formal application.

"This presents all those who live and work in the area with an unprecedented opportunity to have a say in Blandford's future development and we hope as many people as possible will participate in this consultation process."

North Dorset District Council chief executive Liz Goodall said: "The redevelopment of this key site could open up many opportunities for the town and the surrounding parishes.

"These open days offer an opportunity to explore the best options for the site.

"Proposals arising from these open days will eventually come to the district council for a planning decision.

"Before the council takes a decision on the use of the site it will be keen to listen to people's opinions and ideas."

The open days take place on November 3 from 10am till 4pm, November 4 from 2pm till 8pm and on November 5 from 10am till 2pm.
