BROCKENHURST have been rocked by the resignation of player-manager Graham Kemp.

Kemp, who took over at Grigg Lane almost two years ago, handed his resignation to chairman Dave Stansbridge before Saturday's game with AFC Totton.

And the Wessex veteran will now return to one of his former clubs, newly-promoted Poole Town, as a player for the rest of this season.

Brock crashed 3-0 to Totton on Saturday, a result which leaves them one off the bottom of Wessex One and still without a victory this season.

And Kemp, who guided the club to ninth in his first season and masterminded a heroic FA Cup run last season, says he believes he had taken the side as far as he could.

He said: "Things had gone a bit stale and I was disappointed with the way things had gone last year. It is very difficult to attract players and it is a geographical problem with the club more than anything.

"It's no big secret I applied for the Christchurch job in the summer and I think I stayed with Brockenhurst for the wrong reasons really.

"I didn't know if I had the heart to go out and try and sign a bunch of new players and build another team."

But the former Lymington and New Milton player-manager was also keen to point out he parted on good terms.

He said: "It is purely my decision and I thought it was now the best time to step down.

"The chairman was a pains to stress that they did not want me to go but I did not want to drag it out.

"I'm really grateful for all the club has done and it has been a great couple of years and it was a bit emotional to leave."

Brock's loss is Poole's gain though as Kemp, who made seven appearances for Dolphins in 2003, arrives to bring his Wessex know-how to Tatnam Farm.

Poole boss Tommy Killick said: "Since we lost Joe Collins to injury we have been lacking a bit and need a bit of experience.

"We've been looking for someone at the back and Kempy is experienced and proven at this level so we have given him any opportunity just to play."

Dolphins ended their three-match losing streak with a hard-fought 0-0 draw with draw specialists Moneyfields.

And Killick heaped praise on his assistant Taffy Richardson and his players for the result and improved performance.

He said: "I couldn't make it to training on Thursday so Taffy sorted it all out and all the organisation was down to him.

"It was the best performance of the season. We coped really well and that's due to the efforts of the players and Taffy.

"We worked really hard and showed character after the three defeats. I have been frustrated in the past but we gave everything."
