WEST Hants were beaten in the semi-finals of the KIA National Club League finals for the second successive year after going down 4-2 to Gosling on their home clay courts at the weekend.

The Bournemouth-based outfit, who beat WImbledon 4-2 in the quarter-finals, never recovered from falling 3-0 down in the singles.

Helen Lawson won her rubber but the Hertfordshire-based club's victory was confirmed when Jame White and Lawson lost the first of the doubles matches.

West Hants Captain Karen Adams: "We were very pleased to get to the semi-finals. We've been in the semi-finals for four out of the last five years, with a squad of club members who are all local players.

"Gosling are a very strong team and Elena Tatarkova is a quality player - our young players did very well against her in the doubles. We'll have the same squad for next year's event and hopefully we can add to it with some more juniors coming through."

Edgbaston Priory, who beat West Hants in last year's semi-finals, made it a hat-trick of titles after a thrilling tie-break victory over Gosling in the final.

Bromley LTC, who included Bournemouth's Rhys Hanger in their line-up, took the men's crown for the first time after beating East Gloucester in the final 4-2.
